When I was still living in O'ahu, my Mom would come home at least once a week with a bag of Hul-Huli Chicken. If you've been to Hawaii, you've probably heard about Hawaii's own version of barbecue Chicken. I've never heard of Huli-Huli Chicken being served at restaurants but they're usually served at road side stores, flea market stands and truck stores. I know when I see and smell authentic Huli-Huli Chicken. This is no ordinary barbecue Chicken and it is far off from the grocery rotesserie Chicken. Mike's Huli-Huli Chicken is super ono. I happen to find Mike's Kiawe Broiled Huli-Huli Chicken during one of our holo-holo drives in Kaneohe last year. Boy, it was a feastful kind of find because I've been craving Mike's Kiawe Broiled Huli-Huli Chicken ever since.
The smell of barbecue is oh so inviting.
Mike's store truck.
The menu is simple and the prices are affordable.
Mike also sells Kalua Pig.
This is a whole chicken (cut up) served with rice and salad. Once you bite into one of these chicken, expect an explosion of flavor in your mouth.
How can you not enjoy your Huli-Huli Chicken if you're eating picnic style with a view of the Koolau Mountains?
I highly recommend Mike's Kiawe Broiled Huli-Huli Chicken. So if you happen to be in the Kaneohe area, do not miss that yellow food truck and that delicious, hunger inducing aroma of Huli-Huli Chicken. Believe me, you'll not regret you stopped. I am certainly going back for more Huli-Huli Chicken on my next visit to Hawaii.
